A Good Old Fashioned Chemists...

Phew, after spending hours cutting and pasting into my blog I am almost too exhausted to tell today's news!

Not a bad day. Anne (Dad's step sister) came to visit and it was nice to see her. She had a really good natter with Dad on her own, and then had lunch with us.

Spent the morning and afternoon doing the Prescription run. Cooke's Chemist is our favourite - through trial and error we find them to have most things in stock, or to be able to get them very quickly. It's an old, traditional, family run firm - and we (Lorraine and I) like it there. It is always very busy, and I get the impression that people who go there have been customers for years and years - with Jonathon Cooke (current owner and resident pharmacist) often shouting a cheery "Hello" at many of them. I think he's even starting to recognise us as regulars now, and knows that we're there to pick up Mr Alman's prescriptions! If you go early (i.e. just before it opens at 9) then you can guarantee there will be a queue of people outside.

They also sell Nulon hand cream - which I was hugely impressed at.

Today has been Alan Ball's funeral service and it was on tv. Dad is disgusted that when they've showed it on the news, they're not showing the congregation sing My Way, nor are they using the clip of the "They think it's all over - it is now" quote that was played. He wanted to see that.

Made dad some fish, mashed potato and cheese sauce for tea, but he wasn't really tasting it. Afterwards he had a "Sip Smoothie" made with half a Fortisip and half a Blueberry Yogurt. He really liked this so hopefully it's something we can make again.

Local Election day - I haven't voted (didn't get round to organising postal or proxy) and I don't know if Roy got round to it.
